5 Secrets How To Stay Motivated In Whatever Situation You’re In

by Anton Amoto

It is no more a well kept secret that the key to a successful and successive accomplishment of one’s goals is by staying motivated. Everyone gets faced with tasks that they are unlikely to be in favour of even a little yet they find motivation for completing even such unfavorable tasks.

This is mainly based upon the realization that each individual task serves as a stepping stone towards achieving the ultimate goal.

How is it that some individuals manage to keep themselves motivated all the time? The following few tips provide the perfect answer to that question:

1. Finding good reasons

No matter how simple the task, everything that a person does is backed up by a number of good reasons. At first sight, not all tasks may look like they have any good reason for being done but a closer analysis is bound to provide some positive results.

There are also certain tasks that do not require any form of reasoning at all since they have been a part of one’s lifestyle for so long that performing them seems natural.

However, in case a person ever ends up getting stuck with a task that he hates and lacks any form of motivation to get it done, then he must find good reasons behind getting over with it. The reasons may not be obvious ones but it is advisable to stick to the task till some can be found. This is a great way to bring back motivation and help the individual get through with the job.

2. Making it a fun experience

In terms of motivation, attitude plays the biggest role. Various people tend to possess different mentalities towards the same task: while some will be eager to do it others will try and avoid it as far as possible.

The main reason for such an outcome is that some people come up with ideas that make their tasks interesting and fun to take up. Depending on an individual’s approach, any activity can be a fun activity.

Most tasks offer a great potential for being largely enjoyable so it is a good habit to try and look for ways by which to have fun while being in the middle of some work.

3. Approaching the task from different angles

When doing something does not feel right, it is the perfect time to take a break and look at the whole task from a whole new perspective. A person may be performing his tasks with the right amount of efficiency but such an approach is not necessarily motivating.

Quite often one is likely to come across a number of tweaks to their method of approach which not only changes their experience but also opens up a whole new window of experience.

Many people are of the opinion that following a different approach indirectly translates to giving up. For them it is a matter of pride to be really stubborn and refuse to try out any other options en route to achieving their goal.

The power of focus is undoubtedly great but the individuals should be focusing on their goals and not unwantedly limiting their options by simply focusing on one method to achieve the same.

4. Recognition of progress

A person’s entire task can be easily split up into sub parts and smaller stages. For most of the goals, it is natural to split them into smaller tasks and related milestones.

One of the main reasons behind doing this is to be able to track progress. It is common for all people to track their progress but for being motivated, one also needs to recognize the progress that they are making and not simply be tracking it.

Human nature has it in itself to want things to happen all at once. Even after the tasks are split up into smaller milestones, the sense of satisfaction prevails only after the entire task has been completed.

However, certain tasks are too large to be completed at one go and risk demotivating an individual. Under such circumstances, it is best to go in for a measured approach and track the progress through plotting smaller milestones along the way.

5. Rewarding oneself for the progress made

A trick that finds favour with everyone, rewarding oneself is the best means of staying motivated. For certain tasks, a small break and relaxation may seal the deal while others may call for such rewards as a dessert treat.

Larger tasks may require more extreme measures such as a trip to a nice place or a movie show. A person’s progress may not be looked upon by others as something to celebrate but that should not deter the individual from actually doing so.

More the reward for an honest progress, more will be the motivation for reaching new milestones and eventually reaching the desired goal.

Now that the five tips for staying motivated have been revealed, it is time to know the most important process and that is mix and match. If one of the tips do not meet the demands of a certain situation, then others may be tried while mixing up some of the advices can also provide effective results.

A food for thought: coming up with new reasons for working on a task is bound to make an individual feel better. Being able to identify ways to help make it a fun activity will lend enjoyment to the task.

Finally, planning various means to track the general progress and rewarding oneself on the successful completion of every milestone is the best method to stay motivated towards successful completion and achievement of one’s personal goals.
